Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Jackson County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages may be kept long enough to review and answer them. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page may cause the servers to receive basic technical and usage details, including:
- Page-view times and dates
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The referring website, when one is available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site, such as which pages attract traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into broader usage reports. You may block cookies through browser controls, though doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining reliable, responsive site operation
- Routing a submitted search to the appropriate outside provider
- Measuring which resources are useful and which may need revision
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Jackson County Criminal History neither maintains nor sells a collection of individual criminal records. Its role is to describe official request routes through the sheriff, Combined Court, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and information about visits is not compiled into consumer reports or personal dossiers.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, rather than this policy, govern information submitted to those services. Each provider chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which are beyond our control. Read the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Jackson County sheriff, court systems, Colorado agencies, legal assistance resources, or outside search providers. Once you follow an external link, that destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to observe activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and operation
- Search providers processing queries that a visitor submits
- Government or law enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information in our control. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on residency and statutory coverage, the Colorado Privacy Act, C.R.S. § 6-1-1301 et seq., may grant additional rights. Available requests can include:
- Opting out of covered forms of processing
- Requesting deletion of personal information
- Correcting inaccurate information
- Seeking access to personal information held about you
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised from time to time. A changed version will appear here with a replacement effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
